Momonosuke

Official Design

Momonosuke (もものすけ) is a pink kudagitsune employee by the Government of Time. Unlike Konnosuke and Kuronosuke, it did not debut in the browser game, instead being introduced on the official X (formerly Twitter) account as a character who reveals the timeline of upcoming media and real life events happening for Touken Ranbu toward the end of each month. Beyond this, very little is known about it.

Momonosuke News

After debuting on December 9th, 2022, Momonosuke would begin to be featured at the top of images relaying news about upcoming media related to the Touken Ranbu franchise, usually pertaining to Musical Touken Ranbu, Touken Ranbu Stage, the various anime adaptations, and in real life events.

Their information also confirms the releases of DVDs, CDs, merchandise, collaborations, and so on about Touken Ranbu's various spin-offs.

Beyond this, Momonosuke's role in the franchise is limited, and it has yet to appear anywhere else. However, it has been referenced alongside the other Kudagitsune in the franchise.

In the tenth anniversary version of the games opening movie, Momonosuke can briefly be seen running up the stairs of the citadel alongside Konnosuke, Kuronosuke, Mamenosuke, and Kyuunosuke.

Trivia[]

  • Visually, it is a pink palette swap of Konnosuke, with the only other distinctions being its face design, its rounder green eyes, green oval between its eyes, and clothing.
  • Momonosuke is dressed as a yomiuri, which was a newspaper seller from the Edo period. This relates to its role as someone who relays news about upcoming Touken Ranbu media to the Saniwa.
  • Momonosuke is the only kudagitsune whose gender is unclear, as it is the only "-nosuke" in the franchise to use the explicitly feminine first-person pronoun "Atashi" to refer to it. In contrast, Konnosuke uses the formal "Watashi" or boyish "Boku," depending on who's writing him, Kuronosuke uses the extremely formal "Watakushi," and both Mamenosuke and Kyuunosuke use the boyish "Boku." There is still some evidence that Momonosuke may be male, however, as its name still has the masculine suffix "-nosuke" and "Atashi" was previously used by the Touken Danshi Jiroutachi, a feminine male.
  • Momonosuke is referred to as "Senpai" by Mamenosuke, a kudagitsune kit, implying that Momonosuke might be a fully grown kudagitsune.
