History
- Owned by Okita Souji, one of the founders of the Shinsengumi, along with Yamatonokami Yasusada.
- Both are known to be katanas that are hard to handle which only a few people could master - including Okita Souji.
- Okita Souji took Kashuu into battle with him in the Ikedaya Incident (1864), wherein the Shinsengumi went into armed conflict with the Jouishishi, who opposed the Tokugawa Shogunate. It is said that Kashuu’s tip broke during the battle and he was deemed unrepairable, so he was abandoned by Okita.

- Since Kashuu Kiyomitsu was born in a poor environment, he cares a lot about his appearance. He thinks having a clean-looking appearance will earn him his master's love. The mole by his mouth shows his indescribable, bewitching beauty. (from official twitter)
- Has a close relationship with Yamatonokami Yasusada and often get into fights with each other. They may look like polar opposites but are actually very similar. (from official site description)
- He is one of the primary mascots of Touken Ranbu, alongside the other four starter swords Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Kasen Kanesada, and Hachisuka Kotetsu, the separately categorized Mikazuki Munechika, and animal mascot Konnosuke.
- As one of the five starter swords, he is frequently grouped in promotional materials and fan works with the previously mentioned starters. However, because of their lack of historical ties, it is extremely uncommon for the group as a whole to be portrayed in adaptations as having a close relationship without it being a nod to the browser game mechanic.
