Expeditions (遠征) are a safe way for you and your team to gather resources and gain a small amount of experience points. Unlike at the Front Lines, they do not engage in fights or sustain damage.
An expedition unlocks once you have completed a map. However, the previous expeditions leading up to the last map you cleared must also be completed in order to access the new expedition.
To successfully begin an expedition, all expeditions have a specific unit level requirement, which equals the sum of all member's levels that any of the teams you wish to send must meet. Some expeditions may also require certain sword types to be present in the party in order to start. At the confirmation screen, if your team does not meet any of the requirements, you will get a message box that you do not meet the requirements and you will be unable to send them. You can click the message box away and check which requirements you don’t meet, and change your unit. The only way to fail an expedition is by performing a forced recall.
All of your teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) may travel on Expeditions, though if you send out any team on an Expedition, you may not go into battle with them until they return.
On the Expedition confirmation screen, you have the option to see three different types of information, which you can change with the button on the upper right corner of the display:
- Information about the selected Expedition, including the time needed to complete the Expedition, the requirements, and the items you can obtain from that Expedition;
- What kind of equipment is equipped on your swords, including Troops, Horses, and Omamori;
- Your swords’ statistics.
In the case of the latter two options, you may change your unit setup. The confirmation screen also offers you the option to change your unit to a saved unit, to disband your unit, to unequip the items on your swords, or to give your swords fatigue recovery items.
Below are the missions that must be cleared to access your auxiliary parties:
- 2nd Party: A2 - Have six swords in your first party.
- 3rd Party: B9 - Clear Sortie 2-4.
- 4th Party: C4 - Clear Expedition D4.
While a party is on an Expedition, those swords cannot be used in battles, repaired, have their equipment changed, moved to a different team, upgraded at the Refinery, or dismantled at the Forge.
Once your team returns, you will see the results of the Expedition. On the results page, Resources found will be listed under "Obtained resources", Help Tokens, Request Tokens and Koban will be listed under "Obtained useful items", and Seasonal Items will be listed under "Obtained Harvest Items".
Expedition Recall Pigeon[]
To instantaneously recall an expedition team to the Citadel and complete the expedition, use an Expedition Recall Pigeon. Expedition Recall Pigeons can be purchased in the Shop, and can be used from the Expedition menu by pressing the Complete Expedition (遠征完了) button.
Great Successes[]
When a Great Success occurs, you acquire 1.5 times the normal amount of resources, and 2 times the player experience points. Your swords do not gain any bonus experience for a Great Success.
Great Successes also guarantee Koban boxes (小判箱), Help Tokens, or Request Tokens for an expedition. These items are listed under an Obtainable Items with Great Success section at the confirmation page, or they’re indicated with a blue border on the main page before choosing an expedition. When the expedition concludes, they will be displayed under the "Obtained useful items" box.
The likelihood of obtaining Great Successes is believed to depend on Fatigue levels. To ensure a great success, you can use the following methods;
- All participating swords must have a Fatigue value of 100.
- Achieve this by sending a sword into 1-1 alone, in order to raise their fatigue to 100.
- There is no need to have a full party in each expedition, you only need to meet the conditions.
- Once they return you should only need 1 more 1-1 node to raise them back to 100.
Expedition Chart[]
Note: Items listed under "Other" can only be obtained in the case of a Great Success.
Fatigue Cost: All expeditions cost -3 in fatigue.
