The yari (槍) is the name for Japanese spears. They are characterized by a straight blade, anywhere from several centimeters to 3 feet or more in length. A wide variety of blade styles have appeared throughout history; some are flat and bladed, while others have specialize in penetration of armor and lack a sharp edge. Some blades were even forked, with perpendicular edges, or crescent moon-shaped.
In Touken Ranbu, yari are one of the rarest types of sword. They have the distinction of being the only type with a range of vertical (縦). This allows them to penetrate through enemy troops and attack the sword directly. Their other stats are high as well, with Impact and Leadership slightly lower than that of tachi, while their Impulse and Mobility are higher.
